Polygamist compound?

I was just watching the news, and they were talking about the people that were removed from the compound, I was wondering, why do they all dress like that? It reminds me of Little House on the Prairie.

It's traditional dress, similar to the way the Amish dress. They dress like that to eliminate competition (competitiveness) between women and men. Some of it is sexual, such as allowing women to dress in provocative clothing tempts the men into unclean thoughts. Also, it is to demonstrate that people in the community are equal. Some do wear different dress but it is not the flamboyant type of dress. For instance, for people to be able to identify a member of the church or someone in religious and cultural authority. The theme is that they are equals in the society and equal in the eyes of God.
