Polynesian/Hawaiian Themed Reception Food Ideas Please!?

Question

We are having both appitizers and a sit down meal buffet style so the guests can choose if they want to sit and eat or just nibble, so we have the appitizers chosen and for the meal we are having Hawaiian Chicken, little corn on the cobs, and we need another vegetable, I thoguht maybe a cheesey potato casserole but my fiancee didnt like it, any suggestions?

The appitizers are:crab salad and crackers, fruit and a chocolate fountain, little smokies, and a cheese ball.

uhh...i think you can do better than that for a hawaiian themed reception =) here's a list of common hawaiian foods served at food chains across america. You can look most of the recipes up on the internet

spam musubis

potato mac salad

bbq chicken

haupia pudding (coconut jello- you can buy a package at the store, it's kind of like jello)

kalbi (marinated short ribs)

shrimp tempura (you can get frozen ones from costco)

little smokies are good

hawaiians don't really have a 'signature' veggie dish, but maybe you can do chinese chicken salad

Ummm...if you want to go  with a Polynesian theme close you are kind of off on your menu-

How about kalua pork? Lomi Lomi salmon may be a little exotic but it would be fun to get guest to try it.  I don't see any coconut dishes or dishes with tropical fruit such as mango,papaya or guava. Hawaiians eat a lot of pork. Where is the pork in the menu?
