Polytrack return to suit Perfect Mission in Joan Hall Memorial Celebration Handicap at Wolverhampton
On The Hoof, Saturday’s 7f winner, should be given total respect, as he bids for a Wolverhampton hat-trick this Monday, when nine high-status horses meet in the Joan Hall Memorial Celebration Handicap. Following a couple of close triumphs here, the Michael
Easterby-trained seems to have a big role to play.
However, a chance should be taken only on Perfect Mission, who is making his way back to Polytrack after facing an embarrassing loss on turf. On his previous AW start in August, the 4-year-old was mighty impressive. The audience at Kempton saw him convincingly
beating 11 rivals in the Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Apprentice Handicap.
With the help of a fantastic start, the Daniel Muscutt-ridden dominated the first furlong. Andrew Balding’s charge could not retain his advantage, but always travelled well.
After tracking the leading pair in the middle stages, the 4-1 chance raised the standards to regain lead just before the final furlong. Despite a serious challenge in the dying moments, Perfect Mission stayed ahead, and eventually seized the top place by
three and a quarter lengths.
He failed to continue his good work when moved to turf at Salisbury in September. He was nothing like so good on the previous start, but the return to AW would surely help him regain momentum. So, the punters should not ignore him while making a bet.
The race will be held over one mile and 141 yards. It is scheduled to begin at 17:25 GMT. The successful horse will leave the field with a handy prize of £2,264.
Alongside On The Hoof, Handheld is on our shortlist. Julia Feilden’s charge made the frame on his previous two starts. After doing well at Doncaster, the 5-year-old went to Wolverhampton, and continued the fine work. He is likely to play a role, but the
real contest is only between On The Hoof and Perfect Mission.
On The Hoof has won here the last twice, and should be respected. But the vote goes to Perfect Mission. The C&D winner will have a big chance if back to his best. We wish the best of luck to him and all other contestants.
