Question:

Polyurethane from Castor Oil and TDI

i want to synthesize PU from castor oil and tdi and i want to know how can i remove the polymer formed from the reaction to its container (i'm using styrocups) because it sticks to the container. i tried applying methanol on the container but it doesn't seem to help.

also does the temperature a critical factor to the rate of reaction

for example, one PU synthesis would involve temperature @ 75 C while the other one is @ 90 C

thank you

  1. You can use stainless steel vessels. If unavailable, try "tin cans," which are steel. The resin will cure faster at 90C. It also depends on the catalyst you're using, e.g., DABCO.
