The GH of my ornamental fish pond has gone over 16dH. Is there anything I can add to the water to bring ot down to a more acceptable level?

Thanks,

  1. Pond Salt or Aquarium Salt - Frogs are sensitive to it though.

  2. There's two possible reasons, the PH in your tap water is too high or the soil around your pond has a high PH.

Simplest way to correct the GH is to use water from a rain barrel which is soft and slightly acidic.

Adding chemicals or peat tends to make your PH yo yo, rainwater is slow but effective.
