Pond filter ??

i have cleaned the sponges inside my filter box but do i clean the entire box and the nobbly bits at he bottom ???

  1. i always do but they say not to,haven't lost a koi for 10 years


  2. No and only clean any of it with POND WATER. Not tap water

  3. nobbly bits at the bottom are where the aerobic bacteria live

    ....those help to control ammonia in live tanks

    ....also, use pond water to rinse the filter sponges, or dechlorinated tap water in a bucket....

  4. i agree with al, i always wash the "nobbly" bits, in my filter and all 3 sponges useing a hose pipe, then rinse box round with it 2,
