Question:

Pontiac Grand Am question...

My parents just gave me their old car, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE, to drive back and forth to work. My brother backed into a trailer last year in it and busted out the driver's side tail light. I found a tail light on ebay but the guy isn't emailing me back...it says it's off of a '97 Grand Am...are the '97 Grand Am tail lights the same as the 2000's?

  1. Call any Pontiac dealer and the parts dept. will gladly tell you.Thats the best I can do.

  2. No the bodystyle changed in 1999 they do not have the same taillight.

  3. my guess would be that it doesn't, why don't you just go to your local auto parts store and buy one.

  4. Look at the pic on ebay very very closely.  I know they are different and are not the same assembly:  it was the Sunfire and Cavaliers that changed in 2000, not Grand Am, it changed for 1999 - 2000, the bumps were added to the plastic 'glass' of the tail lights and sizing/fit is a lot different.  Mirrors changed also, as well as body side molding and rocker panels in 2001 or 2002.
