Pontiac torrent and a 16 yr old?

what do you think of the 08 Pontiac torrent for a teenager thanks in advance

Every Customer that has bought a Torrent from me have and are loving them. Keep in mind this is not a full out SUV, its actually considered a CUV (cross-over utility vehicle) so you kind of get the best of both worlds. You have a vehicle with decent room for people and cargo, a very good little V-6 motor that isn't to greedy on fuel, and if you go with an all wheel drive version, you have even more capability in the winter with traction and control in poor road condition. If equipped with all the safety features like stabila-trac, onstar, and side impact airbags the price will be more but its obviously even safer from the base model, which is nice and safe to begin with. With the torrent not being a traditional SUV there is also not the high roll over risk everyone is always afraid off because its not that high of a vehicle. I have driven several of them for several hundred mile trips to meetings and such and I personally have enjoyed it, good ride, comfortable and easy to drive. enjoy.

You won't be able to afford the gas.

17 miles per gallon.

most people drive 12,000 miles a year 12000/17 = 705.9 gallons of gas.

706 gallons of gas at $4 a gallon $2,824

so each month you can expect to pay $235.33  in gas each month.  plus the $300 in car payments and $100 for insurance we end up with $635.33 per month to use the truck.

Do you make $700 a month?

I think that a teenager doesn't need such a new car.

And Pontiacs Suck. I'm sorry but they are NOT good cars. and They are alright if you are an Aging Granparent, but, not for a teenager.

I would get like a CIVIC LX or maybe and Si, with the new body style, which I think is like 06 and on.

Every teenager would love a civic, they are just awesome trust me.

its an ok car. I guess if its your first car you have to take whatever they give you. But most people just get old cars so just be happy you got a new one.

So an older $5000 or so Extended cab truck with a camper on the bed won't do the job just as well, if not better?

There are plenty of v6 SuperCab F150s out there for cheap that get similar gas mileage and you won't have an issue getting the bed dirty, either!

well, i tend to think only spoiled kids get brand new cars, get an older one that if you wreck wont really matter cause it was probably a piece of **** to begin with

The owner of my dealership bought torrents for his grand daughters. They are good suv's the gas mileage is 17 to 24. they have the side curtain airbags and have all the safety equipment. Its not a bad fist car if equipped right.

Yikes!!!!

With the gas prices rising up and down.... ehhh SUV is not a good idea. Oh and not to mention the fear of tipping over an SUV..

I'm not sayin to scare you or anything... I'm just being honest because I'm 20 and when I was 16 I drove a old crappy car and I'm glad cuz I totaled it. Now I finally have a decent car and say that I am definitely a better driver then when I was 16 years old.

So my suggestion would be probably a coupe or a sedan for a 16 year old.

SUV is a big big big responsibility!

But then again, its your call.. we're just here to help!

i think a teenager should get a hand me down car...try a 1997 civic..any old civic is a great starter car.
