Ponting backs Harris’s inclusion into the Adelaide preliminary squad
Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain, has backed Ryan Harris’s inclusion  in the 13-man preliminary squad for the second Ashes Test which gets underway at Adelaide on Friday, 3rd of December. Harris along with the New South
Wales left-arm seamer Doug Bollinger were named today in Australia's squad for the Adelaide match.
The 31 year old right-arm fast bowler made his Test debut during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 this year. The two Tests played against Kiwis during that tour saw Harris impressing the selectors with nine scalps. The Australia
skipper, who is also known to be a huge supporter of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 pacer, hailed his tireless efforts against New Zealand during the March tour and said: "There's lots of things to like about him," Ponting said. "The fact that he's had such great success
at international cricket shows he's one of those guys whose just meant to be playing."
Ponting, who was disappointed by the bowling display of his team during the drawn Gabba Test, admitted on Monday that massive improvements in the side are required. After rolling the tourists out for just 260 in their first innings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746
struggled for wickets when Strauss’s army marshaled into the ground second time with the bat. The 152 overs bowled by the home side during England’s second innings could earn Australia only one wicket at the cost of 517 runs.
The most disappointing bowler from Australia was the Mitchell Johnson who returned wicket less for the first time in the last three years. The bowling shambles during the second innings prompted Australian selectors to bring in a changed
pace for the Adelaide Test. And Ryan Harris, who claimed 10 wickets in domestic cricket over the last two weeks, was the best name to be called in. Ponting feels the Queensland pacer is an ideal option to deliver at the Adelaide Oval.
"He's a great competitor, he runs in all day for you and is the sort of guy who will bowl the right length for Adelaide conditions,” said Ponting. “He'll run in and bang the ball in down there, which is crucial if you're going to get the
best out of the Adelaide wicket, and if it happens to reverse swing he can do that as well."
