Poodchalat Pisit dominates Yu Hsien Lin in pre quarter-finals of Singapore International Series
The lower ranked but talented shuttler Poodchalat Pisit proved his mettle and stunned Yu Hsien Lin to surge into quarter-finals of Li-Ning Singapore International Series on August 16, 2012.
Both Men’s Singles experts made this fight a memorable contest by remaining head-to-head for one hour and 13 minutes.
They kept the audience glued to their chairs by putting a marvelous performance while piling up final figures of 21-15, 19-21 and 21-19.
The Taipei campaigner was hot favourite for this showdown but he disappointed his supporters by crashing out with 1-2 defeat.
On the other hand, Poodchalat Pisit performed beyond expectations and reserved the right to be in the top eight contenders of this International Series.
He set the foundation of this significant win straight away in the first set as he bagged this game with a notable lead of six points in concluding margin.
The Thai shuttler made his intentions clear by snatching valuable points in a row and then he dictated his challenger all the way to mid-game break.
He got into a commanding position by finishing first half with respectable total of 11 and then capitalised this initial advantage by placing a winning margin of 21-15.
There was lot of sensation in second set of the match as both shuttlers put all they got to achieve their respective goals.
Poodchalat Pisit was looking to transform his 1-0 lead into a straight-set victory while the Taipei player was striving to avoid a woeful exit.
At one stage, it felt that Poodchalat will finish this battle in just two games but then Hsien Lin came in his way and registered his presence in the contest.
He played his heart out and pocketed this crucial match point with scoreboard flashing 21-19 result in his favour.
However, he could not repeat this performance in the decider and bid farewell to the tournament by losing the final set.
The Thai player played with great precision and did not allow his opponent to rise from the dust. Poodchalat smacked him down with a staggering knock of 21-19 and qualified for the quarter-finals where he will be facing Dharma Alrie Guna of Indonesia.
