Poodchalat Pisit easily wraps up Men’s Singles title at Victorian International – Badminton news
Thailand’s young and spirited player, Poodchalat Pisit, stretched his impressive winning performance and easily wrapped up Men’s Singles title at the 2013 Li Ning Victorian International, which ended in Australian on Sunday, June 30.
In the final match, the top seeded Pisit gave a ruthless treatment to Chinese Taipei’s Chun Hsien Yu and finished off the fight in a completely commanding way in just 18 minutes.
The in-form Pisit, who remained unbeaten throughout this championship, was on a completely different level in the final encounter. He did not face any problem in making his rival moving in all areas and won the match with a staggering margin of 21-5 and
21-5.
On the other hand, it was a nightmare for the un-seeded Chun Hsien who could not put up even a meagre resistance. He was stunned with the aggression of his Thai opponent and bowed down against him in a lopsided manner without putting up strong show.
In the first game, Pisit showed an incredible urgency in setting up an early lead. He was aggressive and positive in the execution of his strokes and remained successful in creating pressure on his lower ranked opponent from the starting points.
Pisit was comfortable in taking the bird early and he kept his challenger moving around by putting variations in his shots. He remained in command all the way and set up a huge lead until the mid-game interval in the first set.
After the break, Chun Hsien increased his speed and tried to play better game but failed to put up strong show. Meanwhile, Pisit stayed on track and won the first game with an excellent 21-5 score on the board.
In the second game, Pisit was again in complete control of the affairs as he played attacking badminton and again set up a comfortable lead on the board until the mid-game break.
In the concluding half, the top seeded Pisit did not show any mercy to his un-seeded opponent. He continued playing with the same passion and did not miss any chance to stretch the gap.
Thai shuttler was impressive in all departments of the game and he easily secured the second game with a completely one-sided 21-5 score on the board.
