  1. Pool balls are 2 1/4" in diameter, snooker balls are 2 1/16" (2 1/8" are used too, but 2 1/16" is the official competition size)  in diameter.

The biggest problem you would have switched ball sizes on a table are the rails. Since the rails are designed to hit the balls exactly at their equator, if you played with the wrong size balls, they would not bounce properly, and if you used balls that were too big, they could easily pop off the table.

If you're looking to play snooker on a pool table, you can find a set of 2 1/4" snooker balls pretty easily. If you're looking to play pool on a snooker table, I'm sure there are 2 1/16" pool balls, although I've never looked into that.

  2. Pool balls are larger than snooker balls they should fit on either table but you should just use them on there respected tables.  I have seen pool tables with the ball return made of two rods that act as a railroad of sorts for the ball to travel but I wouldn't imagine for it to be so wide that a snooker ball would fall through.

As for the joker who answered first, snooker tables are larger than pool tables.  Although there are various table sizes, a professional pool table is 4.5' x 9' and professional snooker tables are 6' x 12'.

Edit: Forgot about the rails good point Matt

  3. yes

  4. Good answers so far, but one point that was wrong, the rails are actually designed to hit the ball above the equator, not at the balls exact mid point.  If they hit at the mid point you'd have more balls flying off the table.  One other thing overlooked is that the pockets on a snooker table are rounded, making it more difficult to pot a ball.  Using even tournament snooker balls on a regular table shouldn't be a huge problem but the rails will seem a little more dead as the ball will be forced more into the table causing a little more wear on your cloth around the rails, and consequently you'll get less of a bounce back from the rail.  best to find a set of balls the right size.  as for using pool balls on a snooker table, hitting off a rail with heavy top english will be more likely to send the ball off the table than on a pool table, again, finding the proper size balls is recommended.  have fun and enjoy the game

  5. Yes they will all fit into the holes of a pool table, but american pool uses a bigger table and slightly bigger balls. hee hee what a load of balls! i don't care i just play the game(pool) but vegas matt is the most acurate.

you asked if the balls would all fit in the holes tho and the answer to that is yes, so whats the problem? Happy playing with the balls.  lol
