Pool A teams gearing up for the 3rd leg of the European League – Volleyball news
After the successful completion of first two flights of the 2012 CEV Men’s European Volleyball League, the competition is heading into the third leg on Friday.
Israeli city Raanana is set to host the third-week matches of Pool A, which is composed of teams from Slovakia, Spain, hosts Israel, Denmark, and Greece. The cracking action of men’s volleyball will resume on Friday and it will go on till Sunday.
The host Israeli squad, which is currently ranked fifth in the group, has high hopes to do well in front of the home audience. Israel opened the tournament in the first week of the competition but could not manage to break the ice. The team appeared in a
total of three matches and ended up with 0-3 result. Israel skipped the second week matches and now it is scheduled to hit the court again.
In the third week, Israel will take on Denmark on day-1. Likewise, Slovakia and Greece will also contest their skills on the centre court.
Danish team joined the action in the second week and demonstrated wonderful performance. They dropped only one match to hosts Spain during the second leg. Next up, the team coached by Fred Sturm is determined to achieve good results in the third-week. The
head coach Sturm shared his thoughts, while speaking at the post-match conference on Sunday. He said, “It is going to be hard for us; I just hope that in the next tournaments we stay healthy and we can continue with such good performances.”
On the other hand, teams from Slovakia and Greece also getting the gear ready for third-week contest. Both teams have played six matches each in the first two legs of the tournament. However, the two of them ended with completely different results. Slovakia
dropped four matches in the series of six matches, while Greeks could only claimed two victories and lost the rest of four matches.
As far as their next match is concerned, any speculation about the conclusion would be premature. Greece may not have as good results as Slovakia but the Greeks have the ability to put the opponent to a hard trial.
This is going to be third meeting between these two teams. In the first week, Greece defeated Slovakia in a five-set thriller but Slovaks took the sweet revenge in the second week match, which they finished in straight sets. Hence, the third match is going
to be tough challenge for both teams.
