Please tell me why I dont need a permit to buy a resin pool deck for $1,000.00 but I need a permit to make a wooden one. And why do I have to bury the post in concrete but the resin decks are on stands almost like a table.

  1. ~ You should have to permit for both. The reason to set the wood legs in concrete is to keep them from rotting.

  2. Here in the Midwest, I'd require a permit for the resin deck, as well. Since neither is attached to your house, I would not require any type of frost protection for either one; just something like patio blocks to keep the legs or posts from settling into the ground. I would require that some method be employed to hold the deck down; and that the deck have a gate that self- closes & self latches.

(Burying posts in concrete is not a "recommended practice", they should be mounted to the tops of concrete piers with an approved post base.)
