Pool E teams up for action in second round – 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship
The 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship is successfully done with the first round. At the end of preliminaries, two top teams from four pools advanced to the second round, in order to compete for top eight positions of the tournament. Teams from Germany,
China, Argentina, Turkey, Poland, Serbia, Brazil, and Japan grabbed success and moved ahead. These teams have been split into two groups; Pool E and F. Pool E is composed of teams from Germany, China, Argentina, and hosts Turkey. The Baskent Sports Hall in
Ankara will set up the field for play for top-8 teams of the tournament.
Just two of the four contenders from Pool E will get a chance to play in the top-4 round. Hence, coaches of all teams are focused on the second round matches. Players are busy honing their skills, while coaches are working on game plans and strategies. The
second round of the tournament is scheduled to be officially opened on Tuesday, August 16. Before the start of second round, Pool E coaches shared their thoughts with media.
Germany
German girls finished in the second position of Pool D under the command of head coach Jens Tietbohl. The coach said that they will face strong teams like China, Turkey, and Argentina in the next round, which will be a tough test for his side. He further
added that World Championship is just starting for them now.
China
Chinese Head Coach, Mang Chen kept his team on the right track in the first round. He enabled his team to finish in the top position of Pool C. He wants to keep up the same momentum in the next round and to lead his team to success. He stated, “I want to
ask my players to keep coming up in the second round because it will more difficult for us than the first round. I don’t care with whom we will play against in the second round only I care about the performance of my players. We will concentrate on our first
match against Argentina because they proved to be a good team in the first round.”
Argentina
Caceres was satisfied with his team’s performance in the first round. He said his players are here to learn about the game by taking on international teams. In the second round, they will stroke with some powerful teams of the world and it will be a great
chance for Argentinean players to gain more knowledge of the game. He said China is the toughest rival in the second round.
Turkey
Turkish coach Sahin Catma was focused on the next match against Germany in the second round. He said, “We have to think of our first match without thinking of the following one.” Meanwhile, Catma urged his players to improve their performance in second round
matches.
