Question:

Pool Filter (Cartridge Type ) Problem?

Hi

My girlfriend has a paper cartridge type filter on her pool. We took it apart and have tried to clean it several times with different liquids from Leslies. Even after soaking it overnight & spraying it down it still seems to have a fine brownish film that we can't seen to get rid off. We hate to have to replace the filters ( there are 4 of them and they about $90 each).

Any suggestions (chemical or otherwise) on how to clean these things??

Thanks for any help.

Joe

  1. not only do you have to hose it off its best to soak it in cleaner products you get at your local pool store soak it for at least two days

  2. i agree with tim about the oils staining them and if they not clogged then keep using them, but it could also be metals from the water if your on well water. we use the normal degreasers from the pool companies and we take them to the car wash or if you have a pressure washer then use yours.

  3. Sounds like oils may have stained it. We had a cartridge filter than had those stains. There wasn't much you could do but hose it real good. As long as it isn't cloging the pores, don't worry about it.

I used to go to Leslie's, but not anymore. Try a local pool store if there is one. The stuff we got from Leslies caused our chemical balance to flip all over the place. The stuff we get from the local pool store works much better. Plus, I like to do business with locally owned businesses whenever possible.
