Pool Vacuum doesn't remove fine sediment and re-enters pool?

Our above ground pool water was crystal clear until pollens or something got in the water creating a very fine sediment on the pool floor that when it's vacuumed simply comes through the filter cloth and back into the water....it's too fine to be held in the cloth. I run the pump but it doesn't change anything...I add the necessary chemicals and nothing. How do I remove this fine sediment which is green in colour??? It looks like lake water...HELP!!!

  1. Run your vacuum through your pool skimmer.  Usually this is a sand filter or a DI filter.

Find out the gallons that are in your pool; take a water sample in a clean jar (a cup and 1/2 is enough) and take it to a pool store and have them test the water.    Likely you come back with a host of other chemicals.  Quite possibly, even though you've put chlorine in, they'll want you to shock it after the pH is adjusted and, if you don't have any, stabilizer is added.

    It's maddening...but you'll get through it.

  2. Sometimes a filter alone will not clean very small particles. You can buy this stuff called fiber clear in your local pool store that can be used as a DE substitute but you can use it an either a cartridge or DE filter. You just add the product one handful at a time through the skimmer until the PSI goes up one pound on your filter. This stuff really helps to catch the small particles. Hope this helps.

  3. Check both the clorhine and Ph levels and make the necessary adjustments. (Shock treatment or soda ash)

  4. It sounds as though you're using a vacuum which has it's own bag. If so, those are primarily designed for leaves and large debris. Small particulate, like you're describing should be picked up with a vacuum hose which runs them through the pools filter. If that is done and the pool filter doesn't catch them then it's probably time to replace the filter media or to use a clarifier, which will help the filter remove fine particles..

  5. backwash filter real good then add aligcide wait 24 hours then vacuum pool,if problem continues then you have a grid or grids in filter that are broken and they need to be replaced i own a swimming pool company
