For a math project, I'm trying to find out how much water (in gallons) your average pool can fit? Just a round number.

  1. Average pool is...

    75 feet by 37.5 feet and 5 feet deep.

    So... 3,720 gallons.

    I'm positive this is the average pool size, as I'm a swimmer. :)

  2. Zwink's answer is a good one except you need gallons.  However, I'm fortunate to be literate in both metrics and the stupid way we measure in the USA.   To change liters to gallons, divide total liters by 3.78 as there are 3.78 liters (same as litres) in one gallon.

    Oh ... and you should really learn that to determine volume you find the area of one base (one of the sides or surface of a pool ... so in a pool that would be the length of the pool in feet times the width of the pool in feet) times the depth, in feet, of the pool.

    In math, you get formulas which are directions, without numbers, on how to solve a problem.  Formulas don't use numbers because there are so many numbers that can be used because almost every situation is different problem.  BUT, the formula will work every time for that situation.  So, you simply substitute your numbers for the words in the formula.

    The formula for volume is LENGTH  X  WIDTH  X  DEPTH (frequently only the first letters are used so, it looks like the following:  l x w x b.  The formula might eve be shortened to lwb.  To use the formula, just plug in the numbers from the situation you have.

  3. the most popular size around where i live is a 24 round which can be around 12-13,500 gallons depending on the wall height. hope that helps!

  4. mine has 35000 gallons

    I bet what they want is for you to learn how to determine VOLUME.

  5. uhh.. do ur own hw. also just go onto a site for pools ( like brothers3pools.com  or something ) and get the range of the largest and the smallest amounts.

  6. the average pool is:

    25 meters by 12,5 meters or 50 meters by 25 meters (olympic)

    the pools vary from 2-4 meters in depth.

    so the contents would be:

    25x12,5x2=625m³= 625000 litres

    25x12,5x4=1250m³ = 1250000 litres

    50x25x2=2500m³ = 2500000 litres

    50x25x4=5000m³ = 5000000 litres
