Pool is soooo green. We have a 19,000 gallon pool, and we went out of town and our water level was a low to where it can't circulate so we came back and it was green. We've tried everything! We went to our pool store and said you need this super shock and this all kill algicide! We did it, nothing! So we said s***w it dumped like 8 gallons of bleach 8 pounds of baking soda!!! Still nothing. When we backwash the water doesn't even look green when coming out its clear! So what's the problem? We need this to be blue in 2 days my daughters first birthday is sunday and I need help we've been trying to get this pool clean for a week and nothing. We had our creepy crawler down there don't know if it's even helping we can't see it down there at all. And the pool is green so i'm guessing it is still alive. We've spent like 100's of dollars and still not doing a thing. Color hasn't changed one bit! Please help us ideas tips. AND DON"T SAY DRAIN! Our pool has liner so can't drain! Made that mistake last year! So brand new liner. Please help us. Tried everything tested the water PH was at 8.2 put in the minus and its back to normal that's when we put the shock in after it was fine. Chlorine and br is very high.

  1. Call a professional

  2. There is a product called Shock it.    I had the same problem you are having.  I used the shock stuff and the first time it didnt work.  I used the bleach , it didnt work.

SO what i have done is added a shitload of shock it to it  in the evening, and let the pump run all night. Your yard is gonna smell like chlorine big time.  If it is still green in the morning,  shock it again......keep letting pump run.   do this as long as it takes to clear it up.  It will work!   It is very frustrating  i know....but keep at it it will clear.  Dont use a bunch of other chemicals other than shock it.   They dont help.

  3. First, I'm sorry to say from what you are describing your pool will not be ready in two days. First, add a COMPLETE list of your chemistry readings (FC, pH, TA, CH, and CYA) and gallonage to the question and I'll be able to help further or email me these numbers. If you do not have a test kit get one. First thing to do is get your pH down to 7.2. The lower the pH the more effective the chlorine will be. To make this cheaper for you simply use regular 6% clorox bleach to shock your pool. I would need to know your CYA level to properly figure out what your shock level is but you need to get the chlorine to AT LEAST 11ppm but if your CYA is high then it could be higher. After you get the pool to shock level you need to make sure it stays at that level. Check the chlorine three times a day and add more chlorine (bleach) if needed. Once the level stays the same at sundown and in the morning all the algae is dead. Now you can either floc the dead algae so it can be vacuumed out or you can wait for you filter to grab it. During this process make sure the pump is running 24hrs/day and that you clean the filter as necessary. Brush the pool at least once a day.

  4. ew, green pool.. hmm. i hated when that happened with my pool. along wiith the other girl. use shock it . it works.

  5. I agree Shock the h**l out of it and don't swim in it until the PH comes back to normal, It's that or turn it into a fish pond (sorry I just had to say that) I understand it's no fun Good luck
