Pool pump loses suction very quickly when vacuuming debris (algae & dirt particles). Otherwise all works well

The first thing I though of was a leak in the hose allowing air to enter. I would check that first.

Two things come to mind, either the skimmer basket is filling up real fast and reducing the water flow, (you've got to keep cleaning it while vacuuming, or there is a hole in your vacuum hose that is sucking in air, as you're vacuuming.
