Amps- 8.0/16.0

Volts- 230/115

This is what it said on the label of my pump and i'm not sure if a 240 Watt solar panel can power my pump.

  1. *What is the flow of the pump and pressure?

-240 Watt solar panel can not power your pump if it is running on full load capacity.

-Keeping power factor unity, your motor will draw [230*8.0] W which is quite more than your solar power panel.

  2. What that means is, by appropriate connections the pump can be used with either 230 volts or 115 volts. At 230 volts the pump will draw 8 amps at full load , or at 115 volts, 16 amps.

230 x 8 = 115 x 16 = 1840VA,   While the wattage will depend on the power factor, for this question,  taking VA as equaling watts will show that  you need about 8 times as much power as your solar panel will provide.

That is not allowing for the fact that the starting load for the pump may be several times as much, albeit for short time, so even 8 solar panels might not work unless you have a (large) battery in the circuit, and size your inverter for rather more than 2KVA
