do you loose the game if you scratch after hitting the 8 ball in legally?

Yes it's called an eightball error. you also lose if you make it on break and also scratch or jump the cueball of the table on to the floor,at the same time.

Under BCA rules, it is a loss of game to pocket the eight ball and the cue ball together.  However, it is not a loss of game to pocket the eight ball and cue ball on the break.  That's just a bar rule because you can't respot balls on a coin-op table.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
