The felt on my table is absolute dogsh*t. I got holes all over it, it is covered in white dots and lines, and theirs stains and c**p all over it. I know its very difficult to felt a table(I also am in serious need of rails, too. how hard ar they?) but i think even if i do a crappy job it will still be way better than it is now. And theirs no one around to do it professionally so all i can do is buy the felt online and do it myself. I forgot to mention that its an 8 foot table and that i want felt thats not lightning fast but something like the barroom speed only a better quality.

Any info will be appreciated

  1. You really should look in your area for a professional (check a billiard supply store or even a pool hall and ask around).  Fixing the rails and re-felting a table is a huge undertaking and if you have never done it before you will go nuts trying to get it just right...not to mention taking the table apart and putting it back together.  There must be a way to have it done professionally.  It would save you a whole lot of trouble.

  2. If you want to see what it takes to do it yourself check out this link.

If you don't want to try it then call your local billiards retailer or nearest pool hall and they can hook you up with a professional installation job. If you've never done it before you may want to hire a pro and watch and learn so you can try it the next time.

  3. Well, honestly you can try to do it your self but it is very tricky. First, uncovering the rails, you need to be careful. Read up about how to recover them first, so you know what your getting into. The rail cloth is held on first by a feathering strip, then stretched over the rubber and stapled to the underside of the rail. The feathering strips are very delicate. You need to take extra caution in uncovering the rail, not to break them, so they can be reused. It is best to use a razor blade to cut a line down the cloth on the rail about an inch away from the wood, this way you are still cutting on wood, and not damaging the rubber.  As far as cloth, if you are not interested in the High Speed Simonis, thats fine, you might want to try out Championships' Mercury Cloth....much more affordable and not as fuzzy as bar cloth. Are you sure there aren't any people in your area that can help you? Have you asked around at the local bars and pool halls? Well, if you have more questions I will gladly answer them.....good luck!
