    Lines and points on the table

    Imagine the pool table divided into two equal halves the long way by an imaginary line (called the "long string"). Also imagine two lines crossways to the long string one quarter of the way from each end. These are called the "head string" and "foot string". The intersection of the long and head strings is called the "head spot", and the intersection of the long and foot strings is called the "foot spot".

    Head spot

       A point two diamonds from the head rail on a pool table (the end

       rail that you break from), in the center of the table.  It's the

       center of the head string.

    For a 12 FOOT TABLE, The BCA rules and records book describes it this way:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++...

    BAULK-LINE AND BAULK

    A straight line drawn 29 inches (737 mm) from the face of the bottom cushion and parallel to it is called the Baulk-line, and that line and the intervening space is termed the Baulk.

    THE "D"

    The D is  a semicircle, described in Baulk with its center at the middle of the Baulk-line and with a radius of 11 /12 inches or 292 mm.

    SPOTS

    Four spots are marked on the center longitudinal line of the table.

    1) The Spot (known as the black spot) is 12 3/4 inches  (324 mm) from a point perpendicularly below the face of the top cushion.

    2) The Center Spot (known as the blue spot) located midway between the faces of the top and bottom cushions.

    3) The Pyramid Spot (known as the pink spot) Located midway between the Center Spot and the face of the top cushion.

    4) The Middle of the Baulk-line (known as the brown spot). Two other spots are located at the corners of the D. Viewed from the baulk end the one on the right is known as the Yellow Spot and the one on the left is the Green Spot.

    The ball at the apex of the triangle should be 35 1/8 iches (892.175 mm) from the face of the top cushion (not touching the pink)

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++...

    So if you multiply each of the measurements given in the BCA description above by a factor of .612 (61.2 percent) you will have a scaled set of dimensions for a seven foot table.

  2. They sell marking kits for the tables, I've attached a link below to one company in the UK that provides them.  You can do them yourself with the kit, comes with everything you need and it's not that difficult.

    good luck,
