Poole Track brings victory for trainers Nigel Cox, W J Black & J M Burridge, each with 3 to 5 hounds
Tuesday, the 5th of July, was an eventful day at Poole Track with ten small races on the cards. While the races were all minor with small prizes they were still exciting and a treat to watch.
The day started off well for trainer, Nigel Cox, as his hound, Wave Rider, won the first race on the cards which was a 450 meter Grade A8 race, carrying a prize of £30.
He sprinted off from Trap 3 and took lead of the field, finishing in a time of 27.84 seconds.
Cox had three other entrants in races on that day too, namely Cribber, Brooke Bond and Moonraker, but none finished above show position.
Trainer, W J Black, also had ample representation with four entrants at Poole Track on Tuesday. Although the first race did not feature any of his pupils, the second one had two entrants from him, Southwind Naomi and Castleland Jet.
While Castleland Jet finished a disappointing fifth, Southwind Naomi won the 450 meter race in a commendable 27.57 seconds.
The third race was another setback for Black as his hound, Posh Marnie, finished last in a field of six in the 450 meter race.
The fourth race featured Black’s Ide Klockwork and Sophies Joy, both of whom ran good races, finishing third and fifth, respectively.
The sixth race again had an entry from Black.
Black’s Spooky Times ran from Trap 6 and covered the 450 meter distance in 27.30 seconds, earning him third place.
Although Spooky Times, the 2008 son of Crash, has never ran at a track other than Poole, he runs regularly at Poole to master at the track. However, despite a good career start, this dog has not won a single one of his last eight races.
It was a very good day for trainer, J M Burridge, who had three entrants in different races during the day.
His Droopys College won the third race on the cards which was a 450 meter race in a time of 27.10 seconds.
Later in the day, his Harrys Yer Man won another 450 meter race in a brilliant 26.65 seconds.
His third entrant also performed well, finishing in second place in a 640 meter race.
All in all, the day provided some good racing action to the fans and some good experience to the runners since most of them have not run in big races as yet.
It was also a big day for trainers, Nigel Cox, W J Black and J M Burridge, whose entrants made them proud.
