Pooley wins eighth stage and Vos retains overall lead in 2011 Giro D’ltalia Internazionale Femminile
Garmin- Cervelo team’s Emma Pooley won the eighth stage of 2011 Giro d’ltalia Internazionale Femminile while Marianne Vos maintained her overall leader’s jersey.
The race started in Teglio and ended in Valdidentro. The 28-year-old English professional cyclist took a total of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 45 seconds to cover the distance of 70 kilometres.
After winning the stage, Emma told the media, "I've got to keep trying, not only for stage wins but for the GC, It was a fantastic stage today, it was really tough and fast from the gun, and the finish was truly spectacular. I tried my best to drop Marianne
but it just seems like she's got no weaknesses at the minute."
The race leader, Marianne Vos, was the runner-up, while Ruth Corset of Bizkaia-Durango was in third place with a difference of 1 minute and 29 seconds.
Judith Arndt (HTC Highroad Women), Tatiana Antoshina (Gauss) and Tatiana Guderzo (SC MCipollini Giordana) were in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively.

followed the two cyclists.
In the last two kilometres, Vos maintained her pace and comfortably worked with Pooley. However, Vos was unable to hold her pace and Emma crossed the finish line ahead of other cyclists.

Emma further added, "She's just fantastic. I'm not arrogant enough to say I'm going to win the race, but I'll give it a go."
Nederland Bloeit rider, Marianne Vos, took the overall lead with a timing of 22 hours, 8 minutes and 15 seconds. Emma Pooley was the runner-up with 2 minutes and 32 seconds behind Vos.
