Poor Carol Vorderman. What a way to sack someone - "Take a 90% pay cut or bog off"?

So nice to be valued in the workplace.

If I had to take a 90% pay cut, I'd be on about £4.50 a year.

  3. I dont feel sorry for her at all, she was earning too much in the first place. Just because she was good at selling herslf doesnt mean she is worth whatever figure she wanted. Im sure she will be very easy to replace, im sure there are many graduates who achieved 1st, and 2nd who would be better qualified for the job than she was.

  4. I do not blame her employer for trying to reduce her salary to a level more appropriate to the role she was playing. The snag is that they had agreed her absurdly large income and if she had not asked for an increase would they have been in a position to offer a much lower payment.

  6. I don't feel sorry for Carol, but I do feel sorry for 'Countdown'.

    She can and will survive without the show, the women has a brill personelity, Countdown is a thumbs down without her.

    I for one will never watch it again

Regardless of the amount of dosh she was making, this is no way to treat someone who has been loyal to the programme from the start.  As the ITV "insider" said, it's an awful lot of money for sticking some numbers up on a board - but THEY are the ones who decided her pay scale in the first place!  Me - I'd take them to a tribunal for constructive dismissal.  Let them work THAT one out!!!! BTW: Can you REALLY see Ulrika Johnsson, Anthea Turner or Mylene Klass making a go of this? Sorry but I just can't!

  14. There's definately something wrong there! Employment laws state that you cannot change the salary of someone you wish to demote unless it's by common agreement! The whole thing stinks!
