Poor Ryder Cup record of Tiger Woods does not worry Davis Love III
Tiger Woods has played in six Ryder Cup events and has only won it once, that too, thirteen years ago. Ryder Cup is one tournament for which Tiger will not be remembered. His record at the Ryder Cup is not too great. In fact it is a mediocre one.
This year’s Ryder Cup is taking place in Medinah, where Tiger has won a major twice, first one in 1999 and second one in 2006.
With a familiar atmosphere and a known course, Tiger has the best chance to overturn his Ryder Cup record.
Surprisingly Davis Love III is not at all worried about the form of his ace star in the Ryder Cup. Love knows that this event is much more than just a game of golf - it is about courage, skill and leadership quality.
Tiger has featured in 29 Ryder Cup matches and in that, he has won thirteen times and lost fourteen times. His winning percentage is 48%, which is sort of okay.
Even the great Jack Nicklaus had not the best of records in the Ryder Cup, winning percentage of 66%. It is the majors which he is known for.
For Tiger, it does not matter how he performs in the Ryder Cup because it is about winning majors. Moreover, the former world number one is more determined to win majors rather than Ryder Cups.
"When you look at most top players' records that play a lot of them it's about even. There are not 10 guys that have 75% win ratio because the Ryder Cups are so close,” said Davis Love III.
Love knows that finding the right partners are difficult and that is one of the reasons for losing.
"But it comes down to who do you want on your side - I will take Tiger Woods as my partner any time. I got him a couple of times and he's a great partner," Love stated.
“He's a guy you want on your team for the intimidation factor, for the confidence factor and for the leadership now. He really is a good leader on and off the course,” said a confident looking Love.
Team USA will be looking to end the European dominance in Chicago and for that to happen, Tiger Woods will need to put up a remarkable show.
