Poor bating caused Rawalpindi Rams' ouster says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 – Cricket News Update
The left-arm medium pacer, Sohail Tanvir, blames irresponsible batting after Rawalpindi Rams’ exit from the on-going tournament Super Eight Twenty20 Cup at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
The defending champions lost their first match against Karachi http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781 - the side which they defeated in last year’s final, followed by another defeat at the hands of Lahore Eagles which locked their departure.
“Batting was our weapon but we misfired badly and that is the main reason we crashed out,” said Tanvir
The 27-year-old pacer, who has represented the national side 19 times in T20 internationals, expressed his disappointment over the early exit from the tournament, as they have performed pretty well in the last three editions of the event.
“Nobody wants to lose on home turf and the players are gutted to have failed in front of their home fans. They’re also disappointed because they know the team had the talent to perform well, especially with the crowd support,” said the grieved skipper.
Tanvir further added that the idea of preparing competitive pitches, like the Pindi stadium, is a very good sign, as it gives full opportunity to both quality bowlers and batsmen to play their natural game.
“The pitches here are very competitive. It’s about buying time in the middle and once a batsman gets set, he will go on to score big,” said by the left-handed player.
The former Royal Challengers all-rounder, hailed Rams’ opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Awais-Zia-c46838, who batted well in their second match against Lahore Eagles which Rams’ lost by 34 runs. Zia, in his innings of 40 balls, kept the hopes of a win alive as long as he stayed
on the pitch and scored 55 including six boundaries and two sixes.
It is the first time the exciting tournament is taking place in Rawalpindi. Prior to this, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad have hosted this event.  The tournament was initiated in 2004 by PCB and is currently sponsored by Faysal Bank.
The best part of this tournament for domestic players is the presence of national team's head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571, in the stadium. Whatmore is monitoring the performance of each player and will short list the promising talents. The selected players will
be trained and further scrutinized for this year's World Twenty20 Cup, to be start in September at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
