Poor catching will hurt England, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Xavier-Ford-c60657 – Cricket News Update
Sri Lankan coach, Graham Ford, hopes that the dropped catches by England on the first day of the Test between the two teams at Galle will cost the visitors and expressed that fielding is the most important aspect of the modern day sport.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Monty-Panesar-c2024 dropped two of the easiest catches, which allowed
the Sri Lankan captain to get back the advantage for his team.
Jayawardene went on to make 180 runs, which helped the home team to post a competitive total of 318 runs on the board in their first innings.
The Sri Lankan coach is happy and satisfied that his team bounced back from a difficult situation. Ford believes that fielding let the visitors down because it was not easy for the English bowlers to bowl in such trying conditions.
There is a lot of cricket still to be played in the first Test match and the Sri Lankan mentor hopes that his team can make full use of the dropped catches by the English team.
Ford expressed, "I hope it can affect the side massively. At the end of the day when it's really hot and there's a lot of fatigue in the fielding unit, to see a chance or two go down, is quite demoralizing. There have already been quite a few runs scored
since the dropped catches. I was very grateful to see it."
On the other side of the coin, English fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705, expressed his disappointment over the missed opportunities and revealed that his team worked hard on fielding before the series because it can make a difference on flat batting surfaces.
"Catches are crucial to taking 20 wickets in a Test match, so it's frustrating for us that they went down. We're disappointed, especially because we focused on that at the start of the trip," Anderson said.
It remains to be seen that the English team can lift themselves for the remainder of the match or not.
