Poor death bowling cost us games against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487 – Cricket News Update
The Deccan Chargers coach, Darren Lehmann, has urged his bowlers to work hard on executing the death overs bowling plans in their IPL match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Conceding that their bowlers were out of sorts during the death overs in the previous two games, which the Chargers lost to Mumbai and Royals in the final overs, the Australian said that it is just a question of executing good finishes,
hoping his side will break the three-match losing streak on Thursday.
"It’s disappointing we haven't closed the two games out,” said Lehmann speaking to the media reporters on the eve of crucial match against Daredevils.
“The last two or three overs have cost us two wins but boys are training hard it's just question of executing last few deliveries," he added further.
After facing a 74-run crushing at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in their tournament opener, Kumar Sangakkara-led Deccan Chargers showed good fighting spirit in their next two outings taking it to the final few deliveries before
losing to Mumbai (by five wickets on the last ball) and to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals (also by five wickets with two balls to spare).
The 42-year old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 top-order batsman and occasional left-arm spinner admitted that bowling in the death overs in Twenty20 cricket was not an easy job.
"Bowling in the death is not easy,” said the Chargers coach. “It's hard as a bowler we know that and it's hard as batsman as well. It is just the nature of Twenty20. What we are seeing is some close fought games and a pretty entertaining IPL so far," he
added further.
The Chargers have an unbalanced schedule this season as they had a seven day break after their second IPL match against Mumbai, before they took Royals at home on Tuesday and are scheduled to play 10 games in next 22 days. But Lehman said that they were
ok with the schedule and hoped the next three weeks would bring the best out of his players.
"We are fine with the schedule," Lehmann said. "We are playing 10 games in some 22 days, that gives opportunity for someone to play well,” he added further.
