Poor display in the first ODI – Irish Captain extends apology
The Irish cricket Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/William-Thomas-Stuart-Porterfield-c97921, has shown his concerns over the defeat which was conceded by them against Pakistan in the First One Day International match on May 28, 2011 at Belfast.
He apologised the cricket lovers in the country for their poor performance in the match.
Ireland could manage just 96 runs in their innings and he regarded that as a poor total. Their opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Robert-Stirling-c81193 gave them a flying start and opened the innings in a positive mode but they lost the first wicket at just seven runs.
Stirling was the only batsman who resisted at the crease and could not find someone to stabilise the innings at the other end.
He was the top scorer with 39 runs off 22 balls with the assistance of one six and seven fours. The whole team was bowled out for 96 runs in just 20 overs.
Porterfield commented, "There were too many bad shots and not enough application at the crease, especially after losing a couple of early wickets which can happen on any day. I think to keep losing wickets, we just folded too easily. We never put a partnership
together. You never know on a wicket like that if you can scrap 160 or 170 in a reduced game you can contain teams and put them under pressure."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Younis-Khan-c77460 shared one wicket each.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 chased the target easily and scored 97 runs for the loss of three wickets in 27.3 overs.
ICC has eliminated the non Test playing nations for the 2015 World Cup in its decision taken after the conclusion of the 2011 World Cup.

The Irish team was supposed to give a better performance against Pakistan to plead their case strongly in the next meeting of the ICC but lost the first match badly.
Porterfield has assured that his team will give a fight back in the second and final ODI and the two match series will be levelled.
"I think it's a mental think more than anything. It is something that will come together if everyone brings their A-game. We have to rectify that for Monday; we will do that."
