i have just recently bought an "AOC" lcd tv with built in freeview for my bedroom upstairs, most chanels are fine but a few (ITV, C4) have really poor signal or none at all.

i have a freeview box downstairs and that works perfectly. and both are connected to the same rooftop ariel. the only difference is that the coax lead running into my bedroom has a 2 way box with a 1m extension for my tv and a 10m extension going into another room.

would a digital coax cable help at all, or is there anything else i can do to get decent tv back?

  1. The more you split the line the less signal you get, two ways of stopping this1. you get a booster with two outputs, 2 get a separate Ariel for upstairs. hope this helps

  2. Hubby suggests an in line amplifier at the tee piece, then amplified and split off to the two because the signal is too week.  Replace the splitter with the amp.

  3. The very first step is to check that coax lead. Is it connected properly at the plugs? Is it the correct impedance for your set and box? Is there a break in the cable?

If your downstairs TV is working fine there's nothing wrong either with your aerial or your splitter.

  4. you might have to put the ariel on top of the house or something
