Ah, I can see the resemblance to the Suffolk. However he is .2 hands under their average minimum size and not nearly as stocky. He looks pretty bulky in that photo (and he is a pretty well muscled horse overall) but he's not quite THAT big. Colors and head are pretty similar though, so I'll call that an educated guess. :-)

  1. a tiny thoroughbred

  2. Don't care about the points. This just shows that you can't tell a Paint by just spots. I live in a heavily Paint area and it's quite common to see nice no color Paints. After all, they are a breed, not just a color. He does resemble a Quarter Horse and many Paints do look just like them as Quarter Horses are allowed to be registered as Paints if they crop out [the rules have changed, but this was the case for a very long time]. There are also horses that are dead ringers for Thoroughbreds, but are registered Paints for the same reason. My Pinto/Arabian's sire is a Paint who was part TB and really looked it. As I've said before, the only sure way to know what breed a horse is, is to ask the owner.

    BTW: I love your dogs!

  3. hmmm..Bashkir pony?

    Dutch draft?

    American Creme Draft?

  4. American Paint

  5. Going out on a limb -- the height says no -- but maybe a... Suffolk Punch?

ETA - Hmmm... a Holsteiner?  Hackney?

    Congrats Dont Look Back!

BTW Paints were bred from mostly Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds.

The APHA states: To be eligible for registry, a Paint's sire and dam must be registered with the American Paint Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, or the Jockey Club (Thoroughbreds). At least one parent must be a registered American Paint Horse. To be eligible for the Regular Registry, the horse must also exhibit a minimum amount of white hair over unpigmented (pink) skin.

  9. First, he doesn't look like a Quarter Horse at all.

Hmm. This is tough! He reminds me a Halflinger, except he is too big and they are almost always Palamino. Draft cross! I don't know! Can't wait to find out!

EDIT: I see now! That was a good one! Thanks!

  10. Suffolk punch!! Is my final/only answer.

The people above me changed their answers to Suffolk Punch

I'm pretty sure I was the first to mention it.

I thought he looked something like this....

Wow... I never thought it would be a paint!....

Good question! I think it would have been easier if I could see him in person.. Thanks!

  11. A draft cross? Suffolk Punch? Paint with no spots?

my boyfriends horse was like that.

  12. ? quarter horse? looks pretty stocky

  13. solid paint? he looks just like my mare and she is a solid paint.

  14. Hello,

Is it a, Morgan or Tennessee Walker?

If it is not one of those a Draft cross.

Maybe a POA? But he is way TOO big!

Oh is he a paint? We have a double registered paint due to breeding, not color?

    What is he?

    Lol..! THANK YOU!

My sister horse is like that! LOL!!! Funny how people think paints are only colorful! lol!

    He is cute!

    Lol.. Cool!

I probably would not have guessed he was a paint if I bought him either! Lol..

That must have seemed like a shock! lol....

He is cute and very stalky I like that in a horse!

Yah I can see that resemblance as well... That was a really good guess...

My sisters horse is a double registered AQHA and APHA.  She is a totally solid sorrel horse! lol...  Her parents are either double registered as well or one is a registered Paint due to it's breeding, I am not certain. lol...

  15. well im thinking maybe draft croos with TB? maybe Belgian?Suffolk? or i reckon he is Bashkir pony.

  16. American Paint is right,  he is a nice looking horse

I went to the AmericanPaintHorse Association Web site and he does look like some of the ones that did not get the coloring, this is seen very often, but he has a stocky head and upper flank like a paint.

this is a very nice horse.

you got us all....on this one.

have you shown him at all..

  17. You didn't specify if it was a horse or pony and it appears to be a pony of some sort. I'm not sure, but the only thing I could come to was possibly a Quarter Pony? Either that or possibly a cross breed?

  18. reminds me of a mustang...but his head is nicer and more refined than the ones I see around here.
