  1. That's pretty tough. How are we to really ever know? Regardless, I'm going to go with Leif Erickson.

  2. america was discovered by CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS...but was named after AMERIGO VESPUCCI

  3. Asterix and Obelix

  4. the chinese, admiral Zheng He, in1405 discovered it first for the people in the west. But there were already people living here, the crossed the bering strait from the land that is now russia, so i guess they were the first ones here.

  5. Christopher Columbus

    or

    Charles Darwin

  6. could be Amerigo Vespucci

    America's named after him

"and, as researchers now recognize, neither man was actually the first to discover the Americas. There were, of course, the natives already here. There was Ericsson. And there were others. Even the Chinese lay claim to sailing to the New World first."

    so i also guess it's a mystery

  7. Amerigo Vespucci

  8. Chester Bennington

  9. Technically it is some unknown American Indian. Most people think they came across from Siberia where the Berring Staits are now located. It would have been at a time when due to the climate sea level was lower--and there was a lond bridge.

The first European to indisuputably reach North American was the Viking Lief Erickison. This was some 500 years before Columubus.

Columbus was the one who gets all the credit as being the first Eropean to reach America. And it was his voyage which is historically most signifigant--since it started the exploration and colinization of the Americas by Europeans.

There are some other peoples who may have reached America. There is evidence that the Japanese and Chinese may have landed on the west coast. This does make sense since the Japanese current would easily sweep a boat from Asia toward the west coast of North America.

Some people also think that druids may have reached the East Coast.

It has been hypotisised that the Phoenecians also reached the Americas. The culutre of the Aztecs and Incas is curious in that it is not typical of much of American Indian culture which may indicate an influence of people from the Middle East having reached the Americas.

  10. Bush saddam husain and osamaaa theye were blazin buddies b4

  11. If the question is "Who discovered AMERICA?" not the New World (Christopher Columbus) or who discovered the land all together (the Indians), than the answer is Amerigo Vespucci. And the Vikings, like Leif Ericson, were here before any other European.

  12. God?

  13. Clovis Culture

  14. Magellan!

  15. Well the Indians were here first, but no one else knew about it. So I guess Columbus was the almost first person. I mean every one says he was the first, but the Indians really were the first...

  16. Indians.

  17. Christopher Columbus
