Do you say pop or soda and where are you from?

  1. Well I'm a Country girl living in the Material[City] world.

    So i usually say "pop" or "slakers". Yea I know it's weird, but-that's just me! =]

  4. I live in arkansas, but I say soda.

    Most of the people down here, however, say either "pop" or "coke".  They call everything a coke whether it's dr. pepper, sprite, pepsi, etc...

  5. Soda as a generic (California), but more often than not, it's by the NAME of the soda (i.e., Coke, 7-Up, etc).

    My husband's family is from MN and they say "pop."  My father lives in GA, and they say "soda."

  14. I'm from Louisiana and down hear, the older people call it 'soda water'. And younger people call it soda.

    I used to say Pop, but then decided that didn't make sense so now I say Soda.

    My family still says pop.

  17. I say soda, USA, people from Canada call it pop. Pop comes from the word Soda Pop, it was named this from the popping sound it makes when soda (pop) is poured.   21. we're more specific here in california...i'll ask for a diet dr pepper...others will ask for a coke - or a sprite - or pepsi...i remember when i lived in florida and played in a band...i told everyone i was going to 7-11 and the bass player asked me for a soda, well since he was so nonspecific i picked out the most unusual, never heard of it before soda...when i gave it to him, he was like "wft is this?" and i said, next time be more specific...

Soda.  I grew up in Missouri.  Some girls moved to our school from Michigan, and we teased them about it in a gentle way (we were friends with them).  We found a 3-liter (!?!?) bottle labelled "red pop" at the store, and bought it and left it on their doorstep one day.  The next day, they left a box of baking soda on my friend's doorstep.

    I live in Indiana now.  I'd say it's about 50/50 here.  Except, in SW Indiana, people say "Coke" even if they mean Sprite, Root Beer, etc.

    I say soda pop until I can get my bearings of what the common saying is in the current location I am living then just kind of go with the flow......
