Pop-up tents, are they waterproof?

I've seen a Gelert pop up tent I want, just wondered if anyones got one? are they any good and are they waterproof? thanks.

  1. Yes. Gelert is a good make for tents and camping stuff.


  2. To be quite honest no tent is ever waterproof.

  3. Most tents are waterproof these days or at least shower proof, when you go to the shop to buy one check with the store assistant which it is.

  4. I am sure because if you go camping then you need to be protected from the rain. So the material the tent is made from is indeed water proof. Hope that helps.

  5. yes, they are, they did a test on the gadget show and gelert is all about making functional camping stuff, go on their website...

  6. yeah i have a quechua from decathlon they are great and def waterproof.

  7. Check the hydraustaic head rating anything above 1500 is ok for the british weather

  8. Look for the the hydrostatic head rating.  Advice I got was anything above 1500 but my tent is 4000.

    Also make sure seams are taped and zips have wind storm covers.

    Pop up Quechua tent from Decathlon seemed to be waterproof when tested on gadget show so it's not all about the price.
