Pope in Rome?

Question

I know that the Pope usually has a public audience on Wednesday in Rome. When does he go to his summer home for the summer? I will be in Rome soon and would love to attend this weekly event.

You know the Pope is home when his wondow 'doors' are open. If he is traveling or isn't home then they are closed.

Even if the pope is not at the Vatican but at his summer residence, he still has a public viewing and blessing.  The summer home, Castelgandolfo is only about 30 minutes south of the Vatican including Rome traffic time.  I have been there for the blessing and you will get a lot closer to him then you would at the Vatican.
