Poplar trees/Photosynthesis?

One of my daughters has to do a project for poplar trees for school and one of the questions in the report is what this organism eats. I know some trees make food from photosynthesis, but can anyone help with poplar trees photosynthesis?

PS- I am not doing the project for her. She has been looking since yesterday and today when she got home, so she has worked very hard.

Thanks in advance =)
