Poppies and opium?

I have no intention of making drugs, but I was curious if garden poppies, such as black peonies do make it? Thank you for any information :-)

poppy seeds do have the ability to give you a positive drug result on a drug test for opiates... see this article as one example:

I'm not one-hundred percent sure but I don't think so. If they did, you'd get a ton of people trying and succeding in making heroin and other opiates in the United states whereas they are mostly made in Afghanastan.

You can test it yourself........allow the seed bud to ripen....then scratch the skin with your nails......you will then see a whitish liquid and if this was to be opium it would taste bitter & make you feel drowsy........

i heard that if you get a few packages of poppy seeds and boil them down with water into a thick fluid and drink it it gets ya high.
