So obviously are enviroment is in a state of crisis(just open your eyes) ANd it is all connected to populations exponential growth. What do think the backlash in America would be if there was this kinda rule/law: "If you have more than two children you will be0 *fined yearly untill the child is 18"- i think this is not too bad of an idea. something has to change! i expect backlash and i want to hear arguments :)

* this would have to be a set amount calculated by taking in a lot of statistics so i dunno what the amount should be. you can fill that blank in if you want*

  1. That is no solution at all, because the USA native born population is already SHRINKING. It is immigration that keeps the population of the USA slowly growing. It is south America and especially Africa where the population is growing very fast. In all rich and developed countries the growth rate is slowing or already shrinking. I am one of 2 children with two children of my own. This is the norm today, and all large families are more than balanced out by one child families or childless people. Population growth is simply not a problem for the USA.

  2. If they made a law like that, millions would rebel and states may possibly secede.

    And we aren't overpopulated.

The poor are the ones destroying the environment. Have you ever seen one of those pictures of the slums in Africa and compared it to a 1st world city? My point exactly.

Population Growth is good because it is the most important resource for the economy and humanity.

And AGW has been proven wrong and vegetation world-wide has increased by 5% since 1980.

And also... We are more important then a few frogs. We are the superior species so we will do what we wish. K?

  3. Population decline

    July 16, 2006

With all the attention given to continuing strong growth in the world population, one thing might come as a surprise: Forty-three of the 193 nations around the world will register a decline in population by 2050. Which country will experience the most significant population decline in absolute terms by 2050?

    A. Germany is not correct.

By 2050, Germany's population is expected to decline from 82.7 million to 78.7 million people, a drop of almost 5 percent. Spain (1.2 percent), Austria (1.5 percent), and Greece (3.4 percent) will all experience somewhat more moderate population declines. Italy's population, however, will decline by 22.4 percent, or more than four times as much as Germany's.

In comparison, the United Kingdom will register a population gain of 12.5 percent, while France's population will grow by 4.3 percent.

    B. Japan is not correct.

Japan's population is expected to decrease from 128 million to 112 million, a drop of 12.5 percent. Neighboring South Korea will lose 6.7 percent of its population, or 3 million people.

Of the 45 nations in Asia, only five are expected to have declining populations. Meanwhile, population growth in India shows no sign of slowing down. The country's population will increase by another 44 percent by 2050, to about 1.6 billion people.

    C. Russia is correct.

Russia's population is expected to decline by a staggering 31 million, from 143 million people to 112 million people.

Alcohol is one of the main factors contributing to this decline, primarily among men. It is accountable for the world's largest life expectancy gap between men and women in any country. On average, Russian men can expect to live only to the age of 55.

    D. Poland is not correct.

Poland's population will decrease from 38.5 million to 32 million by 2050, or by 16.9 percent. Hungary's population will decline by 18.2 percent and the Czech Republic's by 17.3 percent over the next 4 1/2 decades. In fact, all other Eastern European countries except Albania will have declining population levels.

And among the 15 former Soviet socialist republics, 10 have declining populations, with Ukraine expected to lose the greatest percentage of its population, at 43 percent.

  4. I feel that you can have as many children as you want..as long as you can afford to take care of them.

  5. China had the same rule too. Many thought it was barbaric - But I liked the idea.

What do you think of the Egyptian method of killing the first born? - was this the same principle to ensure the food supply?

We are killing this planet primarily with overpopulation - and it is moistly the developed / aspiring world who do this.

Unfortunately governments see a different view. They actually want MORE younger people than older because they pay for the retirement funds of the retired.

What the government would prefer is more people aged up to 35, then a steep decline in longevity.

They are achieving this by the higher incidence of cancers, increased retirement age, obesity and heart desease. One can only wonder if the lack of ozone and increase in skin cancer and the whole bigger picture is orchestrated!

I can quote lists of products that are hazardous to health, but permitted by government - they all add up!

The most notorious are Flourided water, and MSG, But PET bottles, cars with catylists, consumer plastics and MDF all release carciogens.

  6. Well I think they still uphold some sort of law like that one in China. They have/had been for hundreds of years. I personally don't think it would be a bad idea. But Americans would never stand for being told how big their families can be, no matter what the government says.. I can only see this law being enforced in communist countries. Not that I don't think it would be a very good idea to try it out, I love the idea.

But then again, if I was a mother, I', certain I would have a different opinion.

  7. sounds like Hitler's final solution to the Jewish question. good idea!

  8. they already have birth control options, it's called education...it's a shame it's not distributed evenly

  9. no

  10. Whadda ya think we's just get rid of da mafia government and do things the right way.  Not Pollute.
