I need to create a population plan on any country, and so I was thinking of doing it on France. I needed some of the following information, but whenever I look for it, I end up finding blog entries or websites that don't have the right kind of information. I would be really grateful if someone could tell me the following:

1. The history of France's Population (or at least a link to a page with this on it)

2. The different types of cultures in that country

3. What the french people are doing now as a population plan

4. What you think may happen in the future

Thanks :)

  1. 1. Population

       (January 1, 2008 estimate)

    -   Total[1] 64,473,140[5] (20th)

    -   Metropolitan France 61,875,822[4] (20th)

    -   Density[6] 114/km² (89th) 295/sq mi

    2. France, and in particular Paris, has played an important role as a center of high culture and of decorative arts since the seventeenth century, first in Europe, and from the nineteenth century on, world wide. From the late nineteenth century, France has also played an important role in modern art, cinema, fashion and cuisine. The importance of French culture has waned and waxed over the centuries, depending on its economic, political and military importance. French culture today is marked both by great regional and socioeconomic differences and by strong unifying tendencies.

    3. As a dense country, they still arent as in need for space as say japan. The majority of new population is in part tourist, but still those are for the most part temporary.

    4. France has a lot of rural spots, Paris is the only real populated city. Maybe, like all large countries they will expand into the country.
