  1. According to the 2000 Census, it's about 79.6 people per square mile.  It varies by state, so if you want something more specific, then check out the link below.

    If you want something more current, the US POPclock says the US population is 301,776,612.  Dividing by land area gives you a current density of 85.3 people per square mile.
