  1. My web site has different scenarios  when and what tiles would be best to install or whatever area.  Porcelain tiles are very hard and durable but high gloss ceramic tiles would be easier to clean inside the bath or shower area.  I do go into more detail on my web site.

  2. Porcelain tile is harder & more dense.  What you see on top, continues all the way through the entire tile.  Ceramic tile is clay with a glaze baked on the top.

  3. It depends on what it's needed for...  Both are great

What are you using it for and where will it go (what room or area)?

  4. Ceramic tile is composed of clay, minerals and water, which are pressed together and then fired at high temperatures until they solidify. It may be glazed or unglazed. Glazed ceramic tile features a liquid glass coating that helps tile resist stains, scratches and fire while protecting it from fading and making it easier to clean. Unglazed tiles have no coating and possess an even color all the way through, making them ideal for high-traffic areas.

Porcelain tile is versatile and can be used both indoors and out. It's dense and hard, so it stands up well to heavy traffic.

Glazed tiles may be single or double fired, with single-fired tiles possessing greater strength

Glossy glazes provide a smooth, shiny finish which is more prone to scratches and nicks

Unglazed tiles should be treated to help them resist stains

Porcelain tile resists water and can be coated for better traction
