Pornanong Phatlum aims for third Indian Open title
Thai Pornanong Phatlum is able to grab her third title at the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012, as she has said that she is feeling “no pressure” at all.
Speaking during her pre-tournament interview on Thursday at New Delhi, India , Phatlum said that she is ready to take on rivals and is confident that she can go back home with a victory again.
The Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012 starts on November 30, at DLF Golf & Country Club, with the participation of almost all the prominent Ladies European Tour (LET) stars.
“There’s no pressure on me,” said a confident Phatlum who is clearly the strongest contender in Asian lineup.
The Thai golfer is being regarded as one of the strongest contenders at the three-day tournament, as she has won two events.
She rose to prominence when she grabbed a title at the second edition of the tournament, held in 2008. Phatlum once again amazed her fans and Indian spectators after she won the 2009 edition
in amazing style.
Given her past performance, the two-time Indian Open winner has a considerable edge over rivals, and she has decided to come up with an even more solid strategy this time.
Despite losing the last two events, the LET titan has not lost hope and she has been training hard on the practice range since. With hard work and persistence, Phatlum has fixed most of the
flaws in her putting and swing.
“My game is on song and I like playing in India. There is a chance for me to go for my third win, this explains why I’m here – to make it happen,” said Phatlum.
The star golfer went on to say that taking part in Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournaments has helped her improve her game greatly, and she is proud of that.
“Playing in the US LPGA has made me a better player. The courses are tough, the greens are sleek and tough and there are good players”.
Last year, she came close to winning in India, but was beaten by Swedish Caroline Hedwall in the last round. Phatlum faced a two-stroke defeat at the hands of Swedish star who posted an overall
204 on the leaderboard.
