Pornanong Phatlum wins the Hero Women’s Indian Open title for the third time
Pornanong Phatlum has made history on the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012 Championship by winning the title for the third time.
Phatlum led the leaderboard from the start of the tournament, playing a very consistent game, Phatlum, held her ground and engraved her place on the top slot.
The win in Hero Women’s Indian Open is a perfect gift that the Thai golf professional, Phatlum has given herself, as she will turn 23 in two days.
It was not all easy for the Thai golf professional, as she faced a stiff competition from the Swedish golfer, Caroline Hedwall.
Hedwall made one of the most historic comebacks as she overcame a horrible first round on the DLF Golf and Country Club.
Hedwall made her comeback on the second day of the Hero Women’s Indian Open, where she set a course record by carding a 62. In the last round of the tournament, Pornanong carded a score of 66.
Pornanong started her third round from the back nine. Overall, she made 5 birdies, an eagle and a bogey.
The final round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open was nothing short of a thriller, as there was the Swede, Hedwall, who was making one of the amazing comebacks.
On the other hand, there was a determined Thai who would just counter everything that Hedwall came up with. Hedwall carded a 69 on the final day.
After she finished her third round, she said, "I played well but sometimes you just don't win".
The Thai professional golfer, Phatlum said that she has matured as a player and is now mentally and physically stronger.
She credited her calm attitude under such immense pressure on the fairway to the training she was undergoing in America.
The third place in the $ 300,000 Indian Open was booked by another Thai named Nontaya Srisawang.
The Englishwoman Laura Davies managed to get a hold of the 7th position after she had started her day on the 4th place.
Phatlum played like a true champion and deserved the title. However, Hedwall’s efforts are worth mentioning as well.
