Porntip Buranaprasertsuk claims Women’s Singles crown at Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012
Thailand’s spirited shuttler Porntip Buranaprasertsuk lived up to the expectations of her fans as she proved her mettle by claiming Women’s Singles crown at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012 on Sunday, August 26, in Vietnam.
In the final encounter, the impressive Porntip played remarkable badminton and outplayed her lower ranked opponent Lindaweni Fanetri of Indonesia.
The World Number 17 Porntip, who was top seed in main draw of Vietnam Open, was in smashing form on the final day of the event as she put up a wonderful show of top class badminton and easily registered her mark over her Indonesian rival.
The in-form Thai shuttler played with precision and easily wrapped up opening set with a lopsided score. However, she had to work hard in the following set to seal off victory in straight games with a wonderful margin on score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Lindaweni could not maintain her giant killing run in the final battle as she remained under pressure in the entire match and eventually lost to Porntip without winning any game.
The opening game was completely devastating for Lindaweni as her Thai opponent was incredible in her movement and execution of shots.
The impressive Porntip played aggressive badminton in opening half and remained successful in clinching a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Thai shuttler continued her remarkable run without showing any mercy to her Indonesian opponent at any stage.
The aggressive Porntip maintained her positive run on court and easily finished off the opening set with a superb 21-10 score on the board.
In the following set, Lindaweni also put up wonderful show of top quality badminton as she did not allow Porntip to set up a comfortable lead in the opening half and remained close until the break.
After the one-minute break, the top seeded Thai shuttler became quick at net and pushed her Indonesian challenger on back foot.
Porntip played with precision at the ending points and managed to end up the set with a reasonable score of 21-18.
The higher ranked Thai player grabbed the title by winning the final contest with a 21-10 and 21-18 score on the board.
