Porntip Buranaprasertsuk defeats Jie Yao in Women’s Singles first round of German Open GP Gold
Thailand’s talented female shuttler Porntip Buranaprasertsuk passed her first round test as she defeated Jie Yao of Netherlands in Women’s Singles first round of German Open GP Gold 2012 on Wednesday, February 29, in Germany.
The World Number 14 Porntip, who is the eighth seed in Women’s Singles draw of the event, had to play at her best to get rid of her Dutch opponent and managed to win the fight in three games by taking 58 minutes in the court.
The Dutch shuttler put up wonderful show of attacking badminton and troubled her higher ranked opponent but failed to dominate the game in the final set and lost the match with a decent margin.
Porntip, who has been playing remarkable badminton in major international tournaments for the last one year, showed her brilliance as she handled the crucial situations with wonderful craft.
The Thai started the first set in a shaky fashion as she could not live up to expectations and remained struggling in the first half. Until the break, she was behind her rival as 7-11.
After the break, Jie continued her positive and impressive run in the game and did not let her higher ranked challenger to level the score.
On the other hand, Porntip could not bridge the gap and lost the first set with a decent 18-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Jie again remained ahead of her rival as she played flawless badminton and reached at 11-8 until the end of first half.
After the break, Dutch lady continued her impressive play and reached at 19-14 when Porntip geared up her speed and reduced the deficit by reaching at 18-19.
She also saved a match point by playing to her maximum speed and remained successful in taking the second game with a 23-21 score on the board.
In the final set, Porntip was everywhere in the court as she played an attacking game and established an 11-5 difference in the first half.
After the break, Porntip did not make any mistake and continued her elevated run. She managed to win the deciding game with a tremendous 21-11 score on the board.
Porntip emerged as the winner of this thrilling three-set fight by a score of 18-21, 23-21 and 21-11.
