Porntip Buranaprasertsuk enthrals Busanan Ongbumrungpan in semi-finals of 2012 Vietnam Open
Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk played with great precision and secured a spot in the Women’s Singles title match of Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
World Number 17 player, who is placed at the top spot in the tournament ranking, stamped her compatriot shuttler Busanan Ongbumrungpan in a hard fought tussle.
This semi-final encounter prolonged for 50 minutes and both contenders made the crowd gasp while piling up final result of 21-13, 18-21 and 21-16.
The match kept swinging between them throughout the three gruelling sets but Porntip tipped the scale in her favour by prevailing in the opening and closing sets.
On the other hand, the opposing shuttler Busanan could not break her limits and surrendered tamely in crucial moments.
Porntip laid the foundation of her dominance by clinching the very first match point with distinction. She set the ball rolling with couple of uninterrupted rallies and then maintained this flow until mid-game break.
She finished the first half with a respectable total of 11 and entered in second half as leading contender.
Later part of the game saw her in prime touch as she mounted pressure with masterly crafted strokes and made the best out of this psychological edge by registering an overwhelming margin of 21-13.
However, the other Thai campaigner did not remain at the lower end permanently and managed to rise on her toes in the very next game.
This time Busanan changed her tactics and confounded the opposing shuttler with her tremendous badminton skills.
She made her intentions clear by snatching a few valuable points straight away in the beginning and then maintained the upper hand until the final moments.
Though, Porntip strived hard to transform her 1-0 lead into straight-set victory but she could not hit the mark and bowed down after reading decisive figure of 18-21.
The decider was expected to be a competitive tussle as both compatriot shuttlers were looking to reserve a title berth by claiming final match point.
They snapped at each other’s heels until the one-minute interval but Porntip made the difference in later part of the game and locked the honour with a staggering knock of 21-16.
Now she will be swinging her arms against the Indonesian player Lindaweni Fanetri in final match of this tournament.
