Porntip Buranaprasertsuk wins against Pui Yin Yip in the semifinal of the India Open Super Series 2011
Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk faced no difficulty in beating Pui Yin Yip of Hong Kong in the Women’s Singles semifinal of the India Open Super Series 2011, in New Delhi, on Saturday, April 30.
Porntip proved her worth in just 29 minutes against the fourth seed, Pui Yin, who defeated Inthanon Ratchanok of Thailand, in the quarterfinals. In the final battle of the Championship, Porntip will take on the third seed, Youn Joo Bae of Korea, who stopped the winning run of Sayaka Sato of Japan, in the semifinal.
The start of the match was interesting for the crowd as both females remained close in the opening points of the match. The score progressed with equal pace from both sides and reached 5-5. Porntip started to dominate the game by playing positively. The variation in her game kept the opponent under pressure. The Thai lady was ahead at 11-7, in the first half of the set.
Both ladies put up a good show in the opening moments of the match after the one-minute break. Pui Yin played some superb strokes and reached at 10-14. Porntip geared up her speed and pushed the opponent in all corners of the court. She was moving in the court with superb ease which made her comfortable in picking the bird quite early. Porntip finished the set in just 16 minutes by a big margin of 21-13.
In the second game, Porntip remained far ahead of Pui Yip in the whole set. The shuttler from Hong Kong matched the speed of the opponent in the start of the set but lost control over the rallies. She made many mistakes, providing an opportunity for Porntip to establish a wonderful lead of 11-4.
The Thai lady continued her superb performance and extended her lead after the break. Pui Yin had no answer to the well executed strokes of the opponent, who was playing at her best. Porntip clinched the second set in just 13 minutes by a wonderful margin of 21-8. The final score of this one-sided 29-minute fight was, 21-13 and 21-8.
